Green energy from the Lake of Como

The project is developed in collaboration with "Consorzio del Lario e dei Laghi minori", and involves some municipalities located in the Como and Lecco area (Lecco, Mandello, Varenna, Valmadrera, Malgrate, Como, Gravedona e Uniti).

The main objective is to implement a feasibility study for the installation of hydrothermal plants for the extraction of renewable energy (to supply heating in winter and cooling in summer) from the depths of  the Como lake’s water, through closed loop heat exchangers and heat pumps powered by gas or electricity.

The goal is to participate, in a second phase, to European calls for the financing of investments, which concern public buildings such as schools, sports centres and recreational facilities.
The project also aims to find further opportunities for the integration with other forms of renewable energy such as solar, mini-hydro and biogas production.
